[Bug]: Win10 x64: can not update VBox 7.2.6 -> 7.2.8 (winget)

What happened?

• Run usual UniGet update - it failed.
• Run interactive update - everything looked nice, then suddenly "installer finished prematurely" and suggested OS reboot
• Rebooted, found there was not mmore VBox in Start menu!
• winget install virtualbox - went instant-fast. Usually VBox installer takes few minutes.
• The Start shortcut re-appeared, launched the GUI, it looked to have all the settings kept
• Tried to launch a VM - it failed with some errora about network filters and "host-only network" feature
• Run the installer: Control Panel -> Programs -> VirtalBox -> Change -> Repair
• It run fast until "removing USB monitor" - this took like 5 minutes. CPU was not high loaded, so i can only wonder what bottlenecked it. Anyway, right after frozen "removing..." page the installed again switched to "prematurely finished" and reboot suggestion

After several loops of reboot+repair the installer now says eveyrthing is OK

However, but the flickering visible wizard pages text labels it looks like it uninstalls the drivers but does not re-install them, still claiming the VBox is okay and repaired.

The launch of GUI is accompanied by a banner saying like "cannot enum USB devices"
It is also that the list of attached devices in the VM settings USB tab is always empty now.

The network ta of VM settings says like "net adapter not chosen", but the "name" combobox is empty and all others are filled in.

i manually installed the five INF-files of VirtualBox\Drivers\* and then restarted the VirtualBox Windows Service

the network issues has gone and the VM starts now

however, the USB enumeration still does not work

normal windows reboot failed because "virtualbox interface applicaiton has active connections"

forced windows reboot seem to finally fixed the issue and make both network and usb operate

something is mightily broken inside the installer, the most required low-level functionality that many users would not even now ABOUT (yet less so know HOW TO) is first feiled then silently skipped by the repair tool, the tool that mast scrupulously detect and recover the application

Please note that we do not support installing VirtualBox on Windows through 3rd party installers and/or package managers, as those can have all sorts of side effects.

When running the regular installer and something goes wrong, a link to the installer's log file is being provided, which is required attaching when reporting such issues.

Well, even if installer command line switches somehow could make "all sort of side effects" then "repair" option from the Windows Control Panel surely did not, or did it?

Anyway, when the "repair" proceeded with removing dirvers and not re-installing them, the installer did claim the repair succeeded without error and certainly did NOT offer any links and did not even mentioned it created any logs somewhere.

Well, after global search on the disc i think i managed to find the relevant files, and with personal information edited out here they are.

If there are more files and filename patterns please quote them and maybe i would find them befoe they are garbage-collected

Consider it an early warning, though. If it happenned to my Windows 10 it might or might not happen to others.
